The DataPort® 4 Bay Mini SAS/SATA Storage Subsystem puts a very large capacity, high-performance, Business Class storage in a small desktop enclosure. Versions are available to support four fixed 3.5” hard drives or hot swap up to eight 2.5” hard drives using DataPort 25 removables drive enclosures.

Key Advantages
  • Speed: SAS and SATA both support max transfer rates up to 3Gb/s. SAS goes beyond SATA by adding full duplex data transfers, so when commands are queued in SAS, both read transfers and write transfers can occur concurrently at 3.0Gb/sec., effectively providing a total bandwidth of 6.0 Gb/sec. SAS also features dual port point-to-point architecture through multi-lane, or “wide,” connections, so a 4x connector provides up to 24Gbps aggregate, bi-directional throughput.
    • Bi-Directional 3.0Gb/sec per port = 3.0 x 2 = 6.0 x 4 = 24Gb/sec for 4 ports.

  • Size: Given the capacity of today’s hard drives, you can fit up to four Terabytes (TB) in the size of a Toaster! You choose the drives, so the maximum capacity can continue to grow along with newer drives.
  • Cooling: Drives can overheat, so cooling has always been a key element in DataPort product design. The new DataPort 4-Bay Mini enclosure features two low-noise cooling fans, a large 120mm intake fan on the door and an 80mm exhaust fan in the rear, to help keep your hard drives and your data safe.
  • Easy Host Connect Cabling Options: Connect up to four drives with a single 1 meter, Multilane 4x SAS/SATA shielded bundled cable with thumbscrew interlocks. CRU sells external host cables separately because host connections vary. Cable connector options include Mini SAS or InfiniBand on the host end. SAS Dual-Port functionality requires (2) external 4x Multilane cables (one for each host). Connecting eight 2.5” HDDs also requires two external 4x Multilane cables. If your host does not already have an available connector, CRU offers Host Adapter kits which include a 4x SATA to SFF-8470 (InfiniBand) PCI Host Adapter bracket and (4) internal SATA Data cables.

Performance Notes
The increased IOs/sec provided by 10K RPM 2.5” HDDs with smaller spindle size optimizes small block random data transfers typically used for OnLine Transaction Processing (OLTP) or file server type workloads.
