Vancouver, WA (October, 9, 2007) - CRU-DataPort, a global leader in data security and data mobility products, today announced the new
DataPort 10 USB, an updated version of their best selling
DataPort 10 removable hard drive enclosure, which is currently being used worldwide to hot-swap hard drives in workstations and servers.
Including the convenient USB 2.0 interconnect feature enables users of the new DataPort 10 USB to tackle two of the top IT concerns today:
Data Backup and Data Security, while easily addressing both issues.
“Everyone realizes the importance of backing-up and securing electronic data, but because it can be a complex task with often less
than desirable results, not everyone performs routine backups, doesn’t do them frequently enough or they’re done inefficiently,” said
Jon Johnson, executive director of marketing for CRU-DataPort. “The new DataPort 10 USB makes this important task almost effortless,
while the rugged removable hard drive carrier allows terabytes of data to be safely transported anywhere and secured off-site, away from the computer.”
Featuring an all-metal design, the DataPort 10 USB allows any capacity 3.5” Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drive to be quickly removed
from a standard 5.25” expansion bay. A cooling fan helps protect the drive during operation while a key lock prevents unauthorized
removal. Three straight-forward host connection options provide added flexibility, including direct SATA 3G connection with Click
Connect, Internal USB 2.0 connection via an included direct to motherboard cable and External USB 2.0 connection via an included PCI
bracket and pass-thru cable.
Disk based backup (D2D) is quickly becoming a preferred option based on overall cost and performance. The new DataPort 10’s USB
hot-swap feature (removing the backup hard drive while the system is still on) makes backups, system restoring and data access a simple process.
“It simplifies everything from Continuity of Operations Planning for our government customers, to routine backups and critical
data archiving for a small business, while the data security benefit cannot be overstated.” Johnson continued. “Many of the data
security breaches we read about every day could have been easily averted by making the hard drives containing the stolen data
removable and securing them offsite. We hope the convenience and affordability of the new DataPort 10 USB will not only provide
needed backups to computer users everywhere, but also help prevent future data security violations.”
